Attend The First Gem Anniversary Event | December 5th, 2017

Mrs Ibukun Awosika, the Chair Person of First Bank Nigeria, is championing a project to encourage more women to save, so that they can invest and build personal wealth for themselves.

Thanks to this initiative, over 10,000 women have actively started saving, so that they can invest. I also joined an investment club using the First Gem platform, where we save a fixed amount every month, to help us to buy land.

So far, we have saved about N7 Million Naira as a community.

As exciting as it is, I personally know that a lot of women have still not jumped on this "saving to invest" movement. There are still sad stories of women who find themselves in horrible situations because they don't have their own.

There are also many cases of women, working hard, night and day to make money, they even save some money...but end up giving the money to a family member who comes to borrow the money and never pays back...and they end up at square one.

A lot of times we see people travel overseas, having a nice time and we aspire to be like them...what you might not know is that, all the money they are spending on that trip...is from one investment they made. You will then carry your entire savings to go and buy flight ticket.

I started taking my personal finance journey seriously in 2016, and I must say that the scales off my eyes have fallen and there is still a whole lot that I am still trying to learn, which is why I jump on any opportunity I find.

The First Gem Anniversary event, is another opportunity.
