Evolution Of Slave Trade In Nigeria

We are in the 21st century and many are still sold in our African countries, especially in Libya as it has been  looked into recently by human organizations.

Little did we know that this illegal activities has being going on and we the people of the same nation sell each other and they don't want the trade to stop

Slave trade can be dated back to the 14th century . Portuguese adventurers who sailed the southeast along the Gulf of Guinea in 1472 landed on the coast of what became Nigeria

More than a century earlier Benin exchanged ambassadors with Portugal , but not all African societies were developed

Initially slave trade was not introduced by the Europeans , it was we Nigerians that brought up the business idea

Europeans usually come to Nigeria to buy brass and rare resources from Nigerian traders in exchange they collect cotton materials and glass

Nigerians already involved in slave trade internally before it was expanded

The English led in the business in the 16th century of transporting young Africans to work in mines and till lands in America.

Both parties made profit. Many grew strong and fat on profits made from selling their brethren Tinubu Square commercial center is named after major 19th century slave trader Madam Tinubu who was born in Egbaland sold humans in Badagry

Due to industrialization in 18th century the Europeans most especially the British changed the motion to invest in small nations such as Nigeria thereby turning to colonies who would work for them and give revenue

The abolition of the illegal trade did not go easy  for Nigerians as most of them were adamant and it took force to make them subject

This is not to be suppose to be so we are not to derive joy in selling humans
