Katsina lawmaker's wife dies after consuming concoction to enhance breast milk

The wife of a member of the Katsina state House of Assembly, Yunusa Jikamshi, Binta Safiyanu, has died after she allegedly drank a herbal concoction to boost the flow of her breast milk. Binta, a mother of six, welcomed a set of twins few weeks ago.

There was irregularity in the flow of her breast milk which made her go to visit a female herbalist to give her something to help her condition. The herbalist mixed herbs for her and told her to take it when she gets home. On getting to her house, she took it, started convulsing and died within 10 minutes. She was taken to the local hospital where she was confirmed dead.

She has since been buried, according to Islamic rites.
The state police command has arrested the herbalist and investigations has commenced into the matter.
