The teacher who opened fire at a high school yesterday  went "mad" and locked himself in a classroom moments before, students said.
The social studies teacher, whose name was given as Jesse Randall Davidson, 53, opened fire on Wednesday at Dalton High School in Georgia.

A Twitter user named Licas who was in the room next to the teacher said, "It was crazy. It happened the class right next to mine. The teacher was mad. He locked his students out, so they came to our class. A few minutes later, I heard like a door slam. It was a gunshot."

Videos taken by students showed sheriff’s deputies evacuating them from the building, with one girl suffering a hurt ankle while trying to escape the building.

Married father Davidson began teaching in 2004 after quitting his job as a journalist in the wake of 9/11 terrorist attack to seek a job that brought him more fulfillment. Students have claimed that he left a note "threatening to harm himself and others" days before he began shooting. No one was seriously hurt in the incident.

The school shooting comes less than a month after Nikolas Cruz, 19, massacred 17 people at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. After the Florida school massacre. US President Donald Trump suggested that rather than ask for gun control, school teachers should be armed so as to overpower future school shooters. Following the Dalton High School incident, people are asking what happens in the event that it is the teacher who goes on a shooting spree.
