Dancehall king-Samini is on the verge of saying bye-bye to his former pay masters-MTN as he will soon be on the red-side of life with Vodafone as their brand ambassador, reports have said. This will probably not be a new thing across the world as top international celebrities have one way or the other cross carpet or ported from one telecommunication to the other. But in Ghana, it has rarely occurred though there is always a first time for everything. A source hinted that Samini’s apparel to the recently held Ghana meets Naija event, which had no yellow stripes, was a clandestine way of preparing the minds of his followers that he was going to sever all ties with MTN. “His attire on that event (Ghana meets Naija) was an emphatic statement that he (Samini) was not going to renew his contract with MTN,” the source stressed. The source, however, could not state why the award winning artiste was parting ways with the company, except to say “it is due to personal reasons”. But the questions that readily come to mind are: Is Samini confused on whether to join Vodafone or stay with MTN?
How GLO deal stopped Naija music star-Burna Boy from performing @ Ghana meets Naija concert
A lot of people who attended the much hyped Ghana Meets Naija concert that held in Accra penultimate saturday, June 29, 2013 were disapointed that Nigerian music star, Burna Boy, who was one of the headline artistes of the show could not perform live on stage on the night. Burna Boy’s inability to perform at the much-publicised show due to the fact that he is a brand ambassador of telecomunication giant, Globacom. His new assignment however hampered the artiste from performing on the show, which was sponsored by MTN which he was already paid to be on. Burna Boy over the months has grown to become a household name with his new songs which is running the ladies wild. And his lines did kick the first initiative to have him on that night. Though he didn’t perform, but he was in Ghana al through the days of the event and performed at the pre-party held at Exel Lounge & Night Club and was also at the afterparty.. Then he was also on stage on that D-day to apologize to the waiting fans and he thus, explained that it was because he has been signed unto a new network and which he will not want to breach the contract. Albeit, the event was a huge success as other Naija representatives such as Wiz Kid, Timaya and Dr Sid rocked the night.
