Arsenal forward, Alex Iwobi yesterday scored the much needed goal, and eventual match winner to take Nigeria to the Russia 2018 World Cup. His goal ensured that Super Eagles became the first African country to qualify for the 2018 World Cup.
Nigeria defeated the Chipolopolo of Zambia by a single goal. Shehu Abdulahi sent in a low cross to a free substitute, Iwobi, who who fired a low shot between the legs of the Zambian goalkeeper. Nigeria leads the group now with 13 points.
Their next match will be next month, and what happens in that match does not really matter. The Nigerian team will however need to improve in keeping possession and taking their chances. They lost the ball too many times to Zambia, which could have proven too costly.
Zambia had a goal unbelievably ruled offside. However, congratulations to the Super Eagles of Nigeria, and Alex Iwobi whose goal has ensured Nigeria will now be playing in Russia in 2018.
