Davido Shares Heartwarming Moment with Chess in Slums Africa Kids During His New York Tour

During his ongoing ‘5ive’ tour stop in New York City, Afrobeats superstar Davido took a break from the stage lights to connect with young talents from Chess in Slums Africa — and the moment was nothing short of inspiring.

These brilliant children were in NYC to participate in the 12th Annual Chess & Community Conference, where they proudly represented Africa and secured several awards. Amidst a tight performance schedule, Davido made time to meet with the kids, engaging with them over a friendly game of chess and a conversation about his music journey. Laughter, learning, and motivation filled the room, making it a memorable experience for everyone present.

The global music icon expressed how deeply inspired he was by the encounter, noting that it gave him an extra boost of energy for his performance that night.

Founder of Chess in Slums Africa, Tunde Onakoya, shared the touching video on social media and praised Davido for his continued support. He recalled how the singer previously showed up at Times Square during his Guinness World Record chess marathon attempt, despite coming straight from a late-night show.

“Today, Davido met the kids — and I know it’s a memory they’ll carry with them for life,” Tunde shared. “Thank you for showing up, once again, and inspiring the next generation.”

This heartwarming meet-up highlights Davido’s unwavering commitment to uplifting and empowering young Africans, on and off the stage.
