Lisabi Festival 2025 Delivered Culture, Class & Unforgettable Style in Abeokuta

This past weekend, the historic city of Abeokuta, Ogun State’s vibrant capital, was bursting with colour, pride, and tradition as thousands gathered to celebrate the Lisabi Festival 2025 — an event that perfectly blended heritage with high fashion.

Also known as Ègbáligánsà, the annual Lisabi Festival honours the iconic Lisabi Agbongbo Akala, the revered Egba warrior celebrated for leading a fierce resistance against oppression in the 19th century. Today, his legacy lives on as Egba sons and daughters from around the globe unite to celebrate community, courage, and culture.

A Cultural Affair Like No Other

Much like the flamboyant displays seen at Ojude Oba, Lisabi Festival 2025 was a stunning parade of tradition and elegance. Attendees pulled out all the stops — men dazzled in regal agbadas with intricate embroidery, paired with stylish fila caps, while women embraced the richness of Yoruba fashion in vibrant iro and buba ensembles, complete with beautifully tied geles in standout colours.

🎉 Notable Appearances

Gracing the occasion were distinguished personalities including former President Olusegun Obasanjo, veteran actor Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD), and Tunde Delu, COO of the Nigeria Rugby Federation — all dressed to impress and proudly showcasing Egba heritage.
