Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has strongly denounced the brutal killing of Ifeanyi Iloakasia, a lawyer and the President General of the Aguleri community.
Iloakasia and his client were fatally attacked by unidentified assailants on Thursday, May 15, near the Agulu-Nanka boundary in the Orumba North Local Government Area, as they returned from a court session.
Soludo characterized the killing as "senseless" and "tragic," vowing to treat the matter with the highest priority and collaborate closely with security forces to apprehend the fleeing perpetrators and ensure prompt justice.
The governor's response was detailed in a press statement released by his Press Secretary, Christian Aburime, on Sunday. The statement conveyed, “Upon receiving a full briefing on this unfortunate incident, Governor Soludo not only condemned the heinous act of the murderers but also extended his profound condolences to the family and friends of the late Iloakasia, as well as the Aguleri community, who are deeply saddened by the loss of a man widely recognized for his unwavering commitment to peace.”
“The governor reassured the people of Anambra that, despite the understandable public concern arising from this criminal act, the state government is treating this matter with the utmost seriousness, working in tandem with security agencies to ensure the swift apprehension of the killers and the delivery of justice.”
“In a related development, Soludo also acknowledged and praised the valor of state security operatives who successfully repelled an attack on a security checkpoint in Isuofia on May 15, 2025.” “While mourning the loss of a brave officer during the confrontation, it is reassuring that stability has been restored to the area, and security operations have been intensified to ensure the ongoing safety of our communities.”
“Therefore, Soludo expressed his deep sympathy to all those affected by these recent tragic events and reaffirmed his dedication to maintaining the peace and security prevalent in the state.”
The governor urged residents to remain alert and continue to cooperate fully with security agencies as the state diligently works to eliminate violence.
