Premiering July 27th 2025, PLS RT is a gripping short film about fear, survival, and trust. It tells the story of Kasope Olachi Briggs, a young woman who wakes up trapped in a wooden crate, with no idea where she is. In a second crate nearby, is Izien, another kidnapped victim. Strangers to each other, scared, and alone, they must learn to trust each other if they hope to survive.
Written and Directed by Ifeanyi Babara Chidi for The Crazy Giggle
Company, PLS RT
is a tense and emotional story that sheds light on the alarming rise of missing
persons across Nigeria. It reminds us that even in the darkest situations,
human connection can help us find a way out.
Bringing PLS RT to life came with unique creative and technical challenges.
With the story unfolding inside two wooden crates, the team had to find
innovative ways to maintain visual interest and emotional tension. The actors
had limited mobility, relying on subtle, restrained performances to convey
fear, frustration, and vulnerability. Behind the scenes, the crew navigated
tight spaces for camera placement, lighting, and sound, all while preserving
the film’s claustrophobic tone.
Pacing was another challenge. With
such a confined setting, tension had to build steadily, which required precise
editing and intentional storytelling. And like many indie projects, the team
worked within a limited budget, from set design to sound engineering that
informed the world beyond the crates. In the end, these constraints became the
film’s strength, heightening the sense of isolation and emotional urgency that
defines PLS RT.
Set over 48 tense hours, PLS RT immerses viewers in a
claustrophobic, psychological thriller where the stakes are immediate and
deeply human. Rather than relying on spectacle, the film draws its power from
emotion, character, and atmosphere. The lead actors - Folu Storms and Ibrahim Suleiman,
were deeply drawn to the concept, intrigued by the challenge of telling a
gripping story within such physical and emotional limits. Their raw, focused
performances pull viewers deeply into the characters' world.
Audiences can expect a
slow-burning, character-driven experience that explores how trust, not just
strength, becomes essential to survival. The film forces us to sit with
discomfort, mirroring the characters’ fear, vulnerability, and will to endure.
