Nigeria is celebrating a monumental achievement as Owolabi Salis, a distinguished attorney and financial consultant, has successfully completed a journey to space. This historic feat marks a significant moment for the nation, placing a Nigerian among the elite ranks of space travelers.
Salis is widely recognized as the author of "Equitocracy," a groundbreaking book that advocates for a democratic vision firmly rooted in equity among diverse groups. He is also a prominent figure in the Soul Maker Ministry, an organization dedicated to championing diversity in profound recognition of the universe's boundless expanse. In a deeply meaningful gesture, Salis dedicated this groundbreaking space mission to all victims of discrimination and civil rights violations worldwide.
Born in Lagos, Owolabi Salis has a background in public service, having run for the Lagos State governorship in 2019 under the Alliance for Democracy party.
His historic voyage took place on Sunday, as he joined five other passengers aboard Blue Origin's NS-33 mission. The spacecraft successfully launched from West Texas, propelling Salis into the cosmos.
His fellow crew members on this remarkable journey included Allie Kuehner, Carl Kuehner, Leland Larson, Freddie Rescigno Jr., and Jim Sitkin.
