Ubi Franklin Sparks Backlash After Declaring “No Coalition Can Unseat Tinubu in 2027”

In a political statement that sparked fire across social media and news platforms, Nigerian music executive and presidential aide Ubi Franklin boldly declared that no coalition, no matter how united, can unseat President Bola Ahmed Tinubu come the 2027 general elections.

The statement, which he made during a recent public conversation, instantly caught the attention of critics and supporters alike. What seemed like a show of loyalty to the current government soon turned into a trending controversy, as Ubi Franklin found himself at the center of political backlash.

The Comment That Sparked Fire

During a political chat aired on X (formerly Twitter) Spaces, Ubi was asked about the growing opposition alignment between PDP’s Atiku Abubakar, LP’s Peter Obi, and former Kaduna governor Nasir El-Rufai. Instead of entertaining the possibility of change, Ubi confidently responded:

“No coalition can unseat Tinubu in 2027.”

He went on to insist that the current administration has built deep political structures and networks that cannot be shaken by “mere photo ops or surface-level alliances.”

But in Nigeria’s tense political climate, such a remark isn’t just a hot take. It’s a public challenge. And the responses came in like wildfire.

Nigerians React: “You’ve Picked Your Side!”
From Twitter to blogs and news platforms, Ubi’s comment set the political scene ablaze.

Critics accused him of blind loyalty, while others called it tone-deafness in the face of Nigeria’s economic hardship. A popular X user wrote:

Fuel is ₦900, power is worse than ever, food prices are mad. But Ubi is here defending the throne like a court jester.”

Others argued that Ubi, once seen as a neutral voice in entertainment and youth culture, had now clearly “picked a side”—aligning with power, not people.

A political analyst on Channels TV added:

“The arrogance in that comment is part of what Nigerians are tired of—people in corridors of power acting like elections are rigged in advance.”
