IVD Arrested at Lagos Airport While Attempting to Travel to Qatar Amid Ongoing Legal Battle

Nigerian auto dealer Ikechukwu Ogbonna, popularly known as IVD, was arrested on Friday, August 1, 2025, at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos while attempting to travel to Qatar. The arrest took social media by storm, especially as the incident occurred publicly and was later confirmed by his fiancée, controversial relationship therapist Blessing CEO.

Reports reveal that IVD was set to embark on a 10-day trip to Qatar when he was unexpectedly intercepted by the police before boarding. According to Blessing CEO, there was no court-issued travel ban or documentation restricting IVD’s movement. She claimed the arrest was a misuse of power and alleged it was orchestrated by an individual with personal motives.
Blessing CEO further explained that IVD’s passport had been legally renewed, and there were no conditions in court requiring him to submit it or refrain from international travel. She stated that the trip was neither secretive nor sudden, and argued that no one trying to escape justice would plan a public vacation.

The case, which stems from a lingering domestic violence matter linked to the tragic death of IVD’s wife, Bimbo, has been in court for three years. Despite the ongoing legal proceedings, Blessing CEO insists that IVD has been cooperative and present during every stage of the trial. She demanded clarity and transparency from law enforcement authorities, challenging them to present any valid court order or documentation justifying the arrest.

The arrest has sparked heated debate online, with many questioning the legality of such an intervention without a clear travel restriction. Others argue that the justice system must be allowed to operate independently, regardless of social media sentiments.
As of now, the police have yet to issue an official statement confirming the exact reason for the arrest or whether he will be charged further. The public awaits clarification, and this unfolding drama continues to raise questions about abuse of power, legal boundaries, and the influence of public figures in Nigeria's justice system.
