On September 12, Hilda Baci and her partners at Gino Nigeria made history in Lagos, achieving a new Guinness World Record for the largest serving of Nigerian jollof rice ever made.
A New Record on the Global Stage
The world record attempt, which took place at Eko Hotels, has now been officially confirmed. Hilda, in a remarkable display of culinary prowess, prepared a massive 8,780 kg of the beloved Nigerian dish. This incredible achievement not only celebrates a staple of Nigerian cuisine but also solidifies Hilda's reputation as a record-breaking chef.
This new feat follows her monumental 2023 record for the longest cooking marathon, where she cooked for 93 hours and 11 minutes. Although that record was later surpassed, the attempt propelled her career to new heights, leading to numerous brand ambassadorships and collaborations.
The Details Behind the Record-Breaking Dish
According to Guinness World Records, the attempt was governed by strict rules, including specific ingredient requirements. The final record-breaking dish was a colossal culinary effort:
4,000 kg of washed basmati rice
164 kg of fresh goat meat
220 kg of Gino Asun & peppered chicken cubes
600 kg of her own special jollof pepper mix
Hilda confirmed that it took "nine hours of fire, passion, and teamwork" and approximately 1,200 kg of gas to create the masterpiece. In line with the rules that no food should be wasted, the 16,600 plates of jollof rice were distributed with "joy, love, and community."
Congratulations to Hilda Baci for once again putting Nigerian cuisine and culture on the global map!
