Nigerian politician and Delta North Senator, Ned Nwoko, has ignited widespread public discussion following controversial remarks about his marital life and the practice of polygamy. Nwoko, who is married to four wives, including actress Regina Daniels, made the comments during an interview on Channels Television's Politics Today on Sunday, October 26.
The Polygamy Defense
When questioned about how he manages his complex four-wife marriage—a situation most men find challenging—Senator Nwoko confidently promoted the practice, suggesting it offers greater life stability.
“I feel sorry for those who have one wife because it’s difficult to stand on one leg,” Nwoko stated. He added, "When you stand on two, three, or four [legs], you’re more balanced."
When confronted by the interviewer that the Bible does not support polygamy, the Senator quickly cited the Old Testament. He affirmed that he has "no regret" about his marital choices and would “do the same thing again,” insisting men should marry whoever they desire.
Denial of Domestic Abuse Allegations
The lawmaker also used the interview to address recent viral reports of a marital crisis with his wife, actress Regina Daniels, specifically denying claims of domestic violence against her.
Daniels had recently shared emotional posts and a viral clip from October 18 where she was visibly distraught outside their Abuja home, lamenting the alleged violence and stating she could no longer endure it. In the footage, she reportedly claimed, "In Ned Nwoko’s house, I am nothing. But in my own house, I am a Queen. I can’t stand the violence — it’s too much."
Senator Nwoko firmly rejected these accusations. "Come on, you know I’m not a violent person. I respect my wives. I love them and my kids," he asserted.
The interview aired just hours after Regina Daniels appeared to confirm an element of separation by showcasing a new mansion on Instagram. The Nollywood star shared images of her new property with the caption: “In my house, I am a Queen! I needed a roof over my head, so I got this for me and my family.”
The couple’s six-year marriage, once heavily debated due to their significant age difference, appears to have reached a critical point, with both parties now publicly presenting vastly different narratives.
