UK Trial Update: Gift Oladele Denies Rape Charges, Claims Encounter was Consensual

A 24-year-old Nigerian entrepreneur, Gift Oladele, has appeared in a UK court to strongly deny allegations of sexual assault involving a 19-year-old woman. Oladele, who reportedly runs a cleaning business in Manchester, faces two counts of rape and one count of sexual assault following an incident in Wrexham.

The Prosecution’s Case

During the proceedings at Mold Crown Court, Prosecutor James Coutts detailed the harrowing account provided by the complainant. The teenager alleged that after a night out last September, she was intercepted on a main road and forcibly dragged into a wooded area.

The victim described a state of "frozen" terror, claiming her mouth was covered and she was struck multiple times during the ordeal. According to the prosecution, the victim arrived home in a "shaking and hysterical" state, prompting her parents to immediately contact the police.

Oladele’s Defense: "It’s a Lie"

Testifying on Friday, March 13, Oladele dismissed the accusations as fabrications. While he admitted to walking with the young woman in the early hours of the morning as she headed home, he maintained that any sexual activity that occurred was entirely consensual.

Under cross-examination, Oladele admitted that his behavior following the encounter—leaving the woman in an alleyway—was "not gentlemanly," but he remained steadfast that no crime was committed. "I didn’t rape this girl. It’s a lie," he told the jury.

The court continues to hear testimony as the jury weighs the conflicting accounts of the night's events.
