Lagos, Nigeria — April 8, 2026
Let’s be honest: for a long time, the "technical" side of Nollywood has felt a bit like a boys' club. But the tide is officially turning. Filmhouse Group has just teamed up with the Care4Her Initiative to shake up the industry by training 100 women in the art and science of cinematography.
This partnership, titled Project Empower 2.0, isn't just a surface-level workshop. It’s a strategic move to build a sustainable pipeline of female technical talent in Nigeria’s booming creative ecosystem.
The Blueprint: What to Expect
This intensive five-day program is designed to move beyond theory. We're talking real, hands-on experience with the gear that makes the magic happen.
Hands-On Training: Structured classes covering videography, content creation, and the technicalities of lighting.
On-Set Mastery: Practical sessions focusing on camera operations and the "unspoken" best practices of a professional film set.
Mentorship: Access to industry veterans who have already navigated the path.
Who is it for?
The initiative is laser-focused on women aged 18–35. If you’ve got a passion for visual storytelling but haven't had the access to the high-end tech or professional networks needed to break through, this is your green light.
The Voices Behind the Vision
"This collaboration marks a vital milestone in our journey toward gender inclusivity. We aren't just teaching skills; we’re creating pathways for women to build long-term, sustainable careers in entertainment." — Kene Okwuosa, Group CEO, Filmhouse Group.
Mojisola Oladapo, Chief Marketing Officer at Filmhouse, emphasized that this is about more than just what we see on screen: "It’s about representation behind the scenes. Project Empower 2.0 is our dedication to driving real impact in the lives of female creators."
Oyinkansola Gbolagunte, Executive Director of Care4Her Initiative, added that the goal is to provide a safe, inclusive space where women can gain the confidence and exposure necessary to thrive in roles traditionally dominated by men.
