Beyond the Controversy: Nedu Wazobia Reveals the True Reason He Left 'The Honest Bunch'

For months to years, the digital airwaves have been filled with speculation regarding media personality Nedu Wazobia’s sudden departure from the viral hit podcast, The Honest Bunch. While many assumed his exit was a direct result of the intense public scrutiny and controversy he faced last year, Nedu has finally set the record straight: the split was entirely about business.

In a recent, transparent video shared on X, Nedu revealed that his exit was fueled by a "handshake" deal that went south and a discovery regarding the podcast's ownership.

The "Handshake" Deal That Failed

According to Nedu, the podcast was born from his own creative vision. Seeking an outlet to speak his mind outside of his radio commitments, he pitched the concept to a production house. The agreement was simple and verbal: a 50/50 split of all earnings, with Nedu providing the talent and the production company handling the technical heavy lifting.

"I had the idea, and I said, ‘Okay, let’s do it 50/50.’ So we shook hands... That was where I made the mistake," Nedu admitted, highlighting the risks of operating on "gentleman’s agreements" in the entertainment industry.

The Turning Point: A CAC Discovery

Tensions peaked when Nedu alleged that the production team threatened to suspend him during the height of the public backlash he faced. The situation turned from strained to untenable when Nedu decided to investigate the podcast's official registration.

A search at the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) revealed that, contrary to their 50/50 verbal agreement, the production house had registered The Honest Bunch as 100% their intellectual property.

For Nedu, this discovery was the final straw. Realizing he had no legal claim to the show he had ideated, he decided he could no longer remain part of a project where his ownership rights were not honored.
