Bishop T.D. Jakes has officially transitioned leadership of The Potter’s House in Dallas, Texas, to his daughter, Sarah Jakes Roberts, and her husband, Touré Roberts. The announcement, made during a Sunday service, marks a significant moment in the megachurch's history after nearly five decades under Bishop Jakes' guidance.
Bishop Jakes emphasized that this transition is "not a departure but a rebirth," stating his intention to continue preaching and ministering. He cited a recent heart attack as a factor in his decision, wanting to ensure the congregation has strong leadership for the future.
Sarah Jakes Roberts and Touré Roberts, who already lead ONE | A Potter’s House Church and have been actively involved in the ministry, have been handling operational leadership since November, according to Bishop Jakes.
Bishop Jakes will now focus on other ministry efforts and community work while continuing to preach. The Potter’s House enters a new chapter under the leadership of Sarah and Touré Roberts, building on the church's nearly 30-year legacy.
