UAE Gains Access to Advanced US AI Chips in Landmark Technology Agreement

A significant technology and trade accord has been announced between the United States and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), granting the Gulf nation access to cutting-edge artificial intelligence (AI) semiconductors from American firms. This agreement, finalized during the American leader's recent visit to Abu Dhabi, marks a crucial diplomatic and economic achievement as the UAE navigates its established alliance with the US alongside its expanding economic ties with China, its primary trading partner.

This deal offers a substantial boost to the UAE’s aspirations to become a global hub for artificial intelligence. The American leader stated that the provision of these advanced chips will be subject to secure management conditions, including oversight of data centers by US entities.

“We’re making substantial progress on the $1.4 trillion that UAE has announced its intention to invest in the United States,” the American leader said during the final leg of his tour of Gulf nations, which also included Saudi Arabia and Qatar. “Yesterday, the two countries agreed to establish a pathway for the UAE to acquire some of the world’s most sophisticated AI semiconductors from American companies — a very significant contract,” he added. The chip agreement is anticipated to generate billions of dollars in business and strengthen the economic partnership between the two nations. It also aligns with the UAE’s broader commitment, made in March, to invest $1.4 trillion in the United States over the coming decade, encompassing strategic sectors such as energy, AI, and manufacturing.

“This agreement will accelerate the UAE’s ambitions to become a truly significant player in artificial intelligence,” the American leader noted. The move also indicates the American administration’s confidence in US technological dominance and its willingness to collaborate closely with allies on sensitive technological advancements within secure frameworks.
