Jim Ross has publicly shared that he has been diagnosed with colon cancer.

The esteemed 73-year-old took to his Instagram account this week to reveal the diagnosis, stating that surgery is planned in the coming weeks.

Ross currently serves as a part-time commentator and senior advisor for All Elite Wrestling (AEW) and is most recognized for his extensive career as a play-by-play broadcaster with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). This diagnosis comes roughly a year after Ross was hospitalized in May due to shortness of breath.

The Oklahoma native returned to AEW television shortly after his hospitalization, conducting sit-down interviews with Bryan Danielson and Swerve Strickland leading up to their world championship match at Wembley Stadium, which drew over 50,000 spectators.

Ross provided commentary at last year's 'All In: London' event for the main-event match, where Danielson captured the AEW World Championship, two months prior to his retirement from full-time wrestling.

Wrestlers and fans worldwide, including Chris Van Vliet and Major League Wrestling, have shared messages of support and well wishes for Ross.

Ross has maintained a continuous career with major American professional wrestling companies since 1974, beginning immediately after his college graduation.

This colon cancer diagnosis adds to a series of health challenges Ross has faced in recent years. He underwent eye surgery in 2018 and had successful cancer surgery earlier this year.

In October 2021, Ross was initially diagnosed with skin cancer but announced he was in remission by the end of that year.

A WWE Hall of Fame inductee in 2007, Ross has also been named the Wrestling Observer Newsletter's commentator of the year an impressive 14 times.
