The All Progressives Congress (APC) has emerged as the overwhelming victor in the recent local government elections held across Lagos State. The party secured a landslide win, clinching all 20 chairmanship seats and an impressive 375 out of 376 councillorship seats.
This result was officially announced by the Chairperson of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC), Justice Mobolanle Abidemi Okikiolu-Ighile (Rtd.), during a press conference held in the state today, July 13.
In her statement, Justice Okikiolu-Ighile confirmed the party's widespread dominance, saying, "The All Progressives Congress won all the chairmanship seats in the 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas in the state. They also secured 375 out of the 376 councillorship seats in the Lagos LG polls."
She further specified the single exception to the APC's clean sweep: "The only councillorship position not won by the APC was in Yaba LCDA, where the Peoples Democratic Party emerged victorious."
The election outcome solidifies the APC's firm control over local governance in Lagos State for the upcoming term.
