A harrowing video has emerged online documenting the moment gunmen launched a deadly attack on a branch of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in Eruku town, located in the Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The Attack and Aftermath
The tragic incident occurred on the evening of Tuesday, November 18, 2025, as worshippers gathered for a mid-week service. Reports indicate the attackers invaded the church premises and immediately opened fire, causing the congregation to frantically flee for safety.
The assault resulted in the fatal shooting of at least two worshippers on the spot, with another victim sustaining critical injuries. Furthermore, the assailants abducted an unspecified number of individuals, including the church's pastor, before escaping through connecting bush paths. Sources suggest the attackers were heavily armed terrorists who had launched a coordinated assault on the town, forcing residents and travellers to seek refuge in surrounding bushes.
Police reports confirmed that two male victims, identified in some reports as Mr. Aderemi and Mr. Tunde Asaba Ajayi, died from gunshot wounds. Kwara State Police and local vigilantes responded swiftly, which reportedly caused the attackers to flee. The severity of the attack has led to President Bola Tinubu postponing a scheduled international trip and ordering the deployment of additional security forces to the area.
This devastating event underscores the ongoing security challenges facing communities in the region.
