Two Nigerian nationals residing in the United Kingdom without valid documentation have reportedly been deported shortly after their return from a visit to Nigeria.
A UK-based Nigerian legal practitioner shared the account online, stating that the individuals had traveled to Nigeria to attend a cousin's wedding. He reported that upon their arrival back in the UK, they were denied entry at the airport and subsequently deported. The lawyer issued a warning to Nigerians in the UK whose immigration status is not fully regularized or whose employment situation is uncertain, advising them against leaving the country at this time.
His online post read: "So guys, if your status isn't 'correct' and your employment situation is shaky, please avoid traveling outside the UK right now to prevent being barred from returning permanently. Sadly, two people were deported today upon their return from a cousin’s wedding in Lagos. The situation is serious."
